BIOGRAPHY

Bec Kirby (b. 1992, Blackpool, UK) is a self-taught textile artist based in Manchester, UK. A graduate in Interior Design from the University of Huddersfield, she has worked in architecture practices in both the UK and The Netherlands before dedicating herself full-time to her artistic practice, where she explores the transformative potential of textiles, fabrics, and yarns. Through her work, Kirby investigates the manipulation of materials to challenge traditional forms, reimagining the relationships between texture, structure, and perception. A strong commitment to sustainability and animal welfare underpins her practice, sourcing wool from ethically-raised, rare-breed sheep, as well as dead-stock yarns from local mills and secondhand fabrics. This approach reflects her dedication to environmental responsibility and ethical sourcing.
Kirby’s work has been featured in numerous publications, including Elle Decoration, The World of Interiors, Evening Standard, and The Sunday Times.
