Shaskia Cuaspa

Wondering People_Shaskia Cuaspa

Shaskia Cuaspa (b.1993, Bogota, Colombia) is a self-taught expressionist and figurative emerging artist based in Arizona. As an immigrant she often questioned the cultural norms and why opportunities for new experiences were so limited, leading her to pursue art later in life. Motherhood was a transformative season where art and identity met. She found the beauty of expression through art and its ability to forge connection.

Shaskia primarily dedicates her time to painting with acrylics, oil pastels, and other various mediums such as oil, paper & watercolors. Her art addresses the human gaze needed for hope, connection, and acceptance. The bold tones and deep colors draw you near; while the postures, hand positioning, and colored noses all serve as a narrative of an emotional and intimate moment. Shaskia aspires to revive the beauty of creativity within people through her art, all of which serve to remind people of their value and purpose in today’s world.
