Otis Blease (b. 1996, Bristol, England) is based in Cornwall. After studying Drawing and Printmaking at Bristol UWE, he went on to do the Drawing Year at The Royal Drawing School in 2019. Blease still works with drawing and printmaking, in addition to painting and sculpture. His work is often an amalgamation of these processes, taking inspiration in instances when these techniques converge.

Often working within the framework of ‘people in a landscape’, his work is an exploration of environments and the impacts they have on our psyche. From beaches and public pools to frenetic street corners, Blease works, first in situ and then later in the studio to create scenes infused with energy, attempting to convey the visceral experience of living in this world through colour, line and form.

His work is often concerned with the rapid rate at which the world is moving and changing, a subject further explored through his ‘Newbuilds’, an ongoing sculptural series started in 2020.
