Eeva Lietonen (b.1987, Lahti, Finland) works with self-made oil paints, fresco techniques, and metal crafting. Her material-driven and process-centered practice focuses on applying traditionally perceived techniques within contemporary art — examining and juxtaposing different temporal layers, emotions, and materials. She values and gives space to craftsmanship — sensory and tangible work.
For Lietonen, painting is a way to organise fragmented knowledge and construct unexpected ideas, emotional and conceptual structures. Her works are not just images; their layers and cavities of material store movement, memory, and the transformations of matter - a connection to the past and the future. Her art stems from a need and desire to examine and imagine different forms of existence.

Eeva Lietonen currently works and lives in Helsinki. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki in 2024. Her work has been shown in Finland and internationally, including at Galerie Anhava, Helsinki (2024); Paimio Sanatorium, Paimio (2024); Pesula Gallery, Sipoo (2024); XVIII International Vilnus Painting Triennial, Vilnius (2024); PAJA Gallery, Helsinki (2022); Snow Gallery, Berlin (2022); and Kosminen Gallery, Helsinki (2021). In addition to private collections, her work features in the collections of the HAM Helsinki Art Museum, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma.
