Andrew Pierce Scott and Natalia Triantafylli in the studio

Filmmaker Joni Lettmann

Andrew Pierce Scott and Natalia Triantafylli embrace the visible traces of making, valuing the hand of the maker and the act of creation itself. For both their practices there is a lot of crossover, but their materials sit at opposite ends of a spectrum, creating a compelling dialogue. Pierce Scott works with metal, often darkened and opaque, imbuing the pieces with a sense of weight and solidity. Triantafylli works with translucent porcelain, which captures and diffuses light, producing a soft, glowing quality that interacts with and reflects upon the metal surfaces. Their collaboration allows each to extend beyond the limitations of their medium: metal provides structural strength and scale where ceramics alone may not suffice, while porcelain introduces lightness, translucency, and delicate, rippling forms that metal cannot achieve.
