Studio Vero is a London-based interior design practice renowned for creating thoughtfully composed, distinctive spaces that feel as effortless as they are refined.Venetia Rudebeck and Romanos Brihi are lifelong friends. Together, they founded Studio Vero in 2014, crystalising an enduring creative partnership, founded upon a shared love of art, design and originality. WP: "What is your most beloved room in your house and why?"
Venetia: "My kitchen is probably my most beloved room in the house. I wanted it to feel incredibly light, generous and sociable - a beautiful space, but one that never feels too precious. At the centre is a very long, zinc-wrapped table made by Matthew Cox. Over time, it has developed a beautiful patina and acquired plenty of marks and scratches, which I love because they remind me of all the fun dinners and evenings we’ve hosted around it.
The rest of the room has evolved around the table and is a real mix of pieces I’ve collected over the years. The 1960s Danish chairs were eBay finds, which I had recovered in bright yellow leather. On the end wall hangs a 1970s Swedish tapestry from Dorian Caffot de Fawes, adding warmth and depth to the room. Beneath it sits a cabinet by Fiona McDonald, alongside a collection of blue-and-white plates that were given to me and became the starting point for what has now grown into a collection covering the walls.
I particularly love the two paintings. Neither is signed or especially valuable, but I was instantly drawn to them - not least because of their wonderful frames. I think they’re a great example of how something doesn’t have to be terribly grand or expensive to feel special. The right frame can completely transform a piece, giving it presence and making you see it in an entirely different way.
That mix is what makes the room feel so inviting to me. There are beautifully made pieces alongside vintage finds and things that have simply caught my eye. It’s layered, eclectic and deeply personal and everything is here simply because I genuinely love it."
