Monique Robinson of Lockerroom (b. 1997, Bellingen, Australia) works predominantly in ceramic, with craftsmanship that also includes sculpture, lighting and creative direction/set design.

With an Honours degree of Interior Architecture from the University of New South Wales, Monique developed an interest in tactility and so Lockerroom was established to enable a continuous exploration of tactile practices. 

Monique's ceramic practice often draws upon geological, geographical and architectural philosophies. A focus within the work is the emphasis on hand-made, that of mark-making and impressions, that often signify a moment in time or a piece unique unto itself that cannot be remade. Less a tool of function and more of experimentation. Fostering the notion of presence with no expectation or outcome. A strong connection to, or reflection of, our natural world. 

Throughout the last year, Lockerroom has reflected upon references, materiality and considerations of Portugal. The surfaces of pieces made here are developed from foraged materials that have been collected which include; 3 different clay bodies found and dug in the Algarve. As well as, ash remnants from various surrounding tree species. All of the work made here has been Wood Fired in Portugal.
