Kiki Karayiannis
Vasiliki is an Athens-based jewellery studio founded and run by Kiki Karayiannis. It began as a solo, intuitive practice after art school, and is now made in collaboration with a small team of artisans in Athens. It is an expression of the handmade — each piece shaped slowly by hand, from wax to metal, with a visual language informed by archaeology, fluidity, and dream narratives. The studio has grown to focus mostly on bespoke commissions, designed with sensitivity and in close dialogue with the future wearer. The studio works exclusively with Fairmined, ethically sourced, and antique precious metals and gemstones.
WP: "What is your most beloved room in your house and why?"
Kiki: "It has to be my studio, in the early hours of the morning. I designed it to be a place of calm. I find my work very emotive, and when too much information surrounds me it's distracting, so I wanted to create a space with a feeling of lightness, of emptiness.
The pieces I've placed in this room are very personal to me. If they are not the result of hours spent at physical or online marketplaces, they are made by, or gifted from, friends - a cupboard handmade on site by Ilias, a couple of paintings from Romain's Gallery, a sketch of a flower by Christopher, an old Japanese pewter vessel from Jonny.
They are all intimate vehicles for memory."
