Somewhere In Japan

by Mathilde Felter
MEDIUM
This triptych has been a slow and deliberate process, bringing together materials that hold both history and touch. It combines two antique Japanese mosquito net fabrics from the 1940s, their natural indigo-dyed threads carrying the quiet marks of time. Some areas had softened with wear, their small holes mended with leftover textiles and embroidery, weaving together layers of past into the present. The interlace of deep and faded blues creates a quiet rhythm, where depth and lightness meet, and where preservation becomes its own form of transformation.
