MEDIUM
Mild steel, Momigami mulberry paper, Oak bark dye
DESCRIPTION
Original
Treow, Old English for "tree" and "truth". A hand shaped and welded steel frame forms the frame. Its skin is mulberry paper, hand-dyed with bark from naturally fallen ancient oaks. The paper's distinctive texture comes from Momigami, a traditional Japanese technique meaning "kneaded paper." This technique, once used by Japanese farmers who could not afford expensive fabric, strengthens the paper, giving it remarkable resilience.
