Christian Cassiel
Christian Cassiel is a London-based photographer and archivist whose commissions have taken him across the Americas, Asia and Africa. From documenting earth architecture in Mali to research facilities in the Ecuadorian Amazon, temples in Sri Lanka, and gorilla conservation in Uganda. Clients include the Financial Times, The World of Interiors, Wallpaper* and Atmos. He is also the founder of Seed Archives, a London-based library and research space specialising in African and Caribbean material culture, design, architecture, and ecology. Seed holds specialist publications alongside traditional African objects stools, headrests and figures. The objects shape how people engage with the books; the books give the objects context. The relationship between the two creates conditions in which visitors engage with African and Caribbean heritage as living knowledge to be experienced, rather than just historical record.
